Breda Knightly
Marriage Celebrant
My Philosophy
Ceremony and Ritual has always played an important role in my life. My love and passion for Ceremony has lead me to be a Marriage Celebrant. Yes, I am a Marriage Celebrant - and so much more. That is my core business, however, when it comes to Ceremony and Ritual - you name it, we can create it!
I am excited to share my expertise with you and design a unique ceremony reflecting your energy and personality.
Hailing from Ireland, I can draw on Celtic traditions and rites to honour the seasons, including Solstice, Equinox etc. I hold regular Rituals, either by myself or in groups, including Ceremony Circle.
To my mind, it's more important to create a loving and emotional experience than to focus on a polished and tightly choregraphed production. Remember, it's not a performance, rather, a Celebration.
My Story
Being a Marriage Celebrant is a dream come true for me. For more than 10 years I shelved that dream while working in Community Services, mostly in the area of DV. It is important for me to be of assistance to people where I can; being a Marriage Celebrant is an extension of that value, allowing me to do so in a fully joyful capacity.
Since leaving Ireland in 1989 my path has taken me to many countries, states and territories, cities and towns, and in 2014 finally settling in the beautiful town of Batchelor, Northern Territory. This is where I am based but I'm happy to travel to Darwin and beyond if necessary. My location being so close to the spectacular Litchfield Park means that, if you envisage a beautiful ceremony in the National Park the actualisation of that will be smooth and easy to organise.
Drawing on my Celtic heritage, I create a Ceremony that has a unique flavour and with your input, together we design a Ceremony that is meaningful and memorable for you, your family and loved ones.
My love of ceremony, ritual and facilitation is my motivation on the journey, and it is an immense honour and privilege to carry the mantle of Celebrant.
My flexible nature means that not only will I be open to your suggestions and but also that the ceremony can be changed at the very last minute if you require. My calm manner and open heart will ensure the days leading up to your ceremony and the day itself will run smoothly and be as tranquil as possible.

Nice stuff people say
"Thank you Breda for overseeing our special day.
We are very grateful for the time and effort you put in to ensure our wedding ceremony was unique and charming. You are an incredible listener and the way you managed to succinctly summarise our love story and weave it so seamlessly into the ceremony was much appreciated.
The ceremony content was individual to us and included all the things we identified as important. You have a way with words and beautifully crafted what we wanted to say. Your well presented ceremony really captured the particular feel we had in mind for our special day. From our perspective it went perfectly. Our guests all agreed that the whole ceremony was intimate and charming.
From a personal perspective I want to thank you for the guidance and prompting when it was my time to find my voice, I was nervous and your gentle prompting kept me on track.
Cheers from Rob and myself, we wish you every success"
I highly recommend Breda. She was professional warm and friendly. Our wedding ceremony written by Breda was perfectly us. The price was very reasonable. Super easy communication. Thanks again for our day Breda.
My husband and I asked Breda to officiate our son’s Naming Day ceremony in January 2020, which took place in the beautiful Darwin Botanic Gardens. Our communication with Breda from the beginning was relaxed, reliable, and personable. We found her to be a kind and warm person. Our son’s Naming Day ceremony was everything we wanted it to be. My husband and I provided the written script for the ceremony, however it was Breda’s delivery of the script that made it so beautiful. She put her heart and soul into the words she spoke. Because of this we felt our son’s Naming Day was a very personal and heartfelt experience. Our guests were also very moved by Breda’s delivery of the ceremony and had many words of praise for her. Breda has been blessed with the gift of public speaking and my husband and I are grateful we had the opportunity to experience it.
